Job Description
Under the supervision of the Plant Manager and/or the Foreman, the Edger Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the edger to ensure consistent, optimal production that meets company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the edger and maintain a steady, productive feed.
- Verify the actual lumber dimensions against those indicated by the scanner at the beginning of the shift and after any saw changes.
- Notify the Foreman of any discrepancies between observed measurements and expected specifications.
- Monitor cameras and report any irregularities or anomalies to the Foreman.
- Use downtime to perform related tasks, demonstrate initiative, and maintain a productive level of activity.
- Ensure work is performed safely, in compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) laws and company regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation.
- Work closely with other operators and members of the sawmill team.

- Experience in an industrial or sawmill environment (an asset).
