Job Description
Under the supervision of the Plant Manager and/or the Foreman, the Trimmer / Grader Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the trimming line and lumber grading process to ensure consistent, optimal production that meets company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the trimming line and maintain a steady, productive feed.
- Grade lumber according to established guidelines (chalk marks).
- Unblock boards caught in the production line when required.
- Notify the Foreman if board dimensions appear non-compliant.
- Ensure work is performed safely, in compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) laws and company regulations.
- Clean the Trim Expert scanner during production downtime.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation.
- Work closely with other operators and members of the sawmill team.
Requirements and Desired Skills
- Strong observational skills and sound judgment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
- Teamwork skills.
- Strict adherence to health and safety regulations.
- Lumber grading certification (an asset).
- Experience in a sawmill or industrial environment (an asset).
